model-making techniques course

What people have said about the course

‘David introduced us to a wide variety of techniques and materials from his own meticulous research and experimentation over many years as a model-maker, designer and sculptor. We were able to try out new processes and materials, and almost as importantly, share our own findings and experiences across disciplines. Perhaps ‘Model-makers Anonymous’ would be a more appropriate title - when else do we get the opportunity to meet and talk about model-making so extensively without everyone else's eyes in the room glazing over? … the course allowed us to gain years worth of useful knowledge over 5 days, and certainly acted as a reminder to me that model-making is not only a means to an end, but can still be a creative, playful process in its own right.’

Theatre designer. Review in the Society of British Theatre Designers magazine BluePages.

‘Just a quick note to once again say thank you for a fantastic week. I really enjoyed the week and have learnt such a large amount it is untrue. Your teaching has given me new confi-
dence in tackling any area of model-making and the cd to go alongside the course will now be my bible for as long as I work in the "industry".
So again thank you so much for a wonderful week, I really missed being with everyone this morning when I was working here in my studio! It was lovely to meet such a nice group of people. And I have made some true friends there and again it’s thanks to you and the course!!

‘…and greater thanks for putting on such an excellent course last week. From a personal point of view the content and level of the course was pitched just right, with all the topics covered absolutely relevant to the skills I need to improve. It was really good to spend a week with such a good mix of people, and I thought you created a lovely relaxed learning atmosphere. The amount of preparation that you had put into the sessions was clear to everyone and really appreciated.
I'm not going to fall into the Ofsted trap of suggesting areas for improvement where patently none are needed, people will always respond to your obvious enthusiasm and expertise.
I can't believe that it's already nearly a week since the end of the course, my last week has not been nearly as interesting or productive as the course itself. I'm now looking forward quite eagerly to my next opportunity to make a complicated spiral staircase!
Rob Dicks, Designer

‘I have heard nothing but the highest praise for your course. It is absolutely what we all need - professional development - in suitably sized, practical, relevant bites.
