At the beginning of 2008 I was asked by the ATDC (Association of Theatre Design Courses) in conjunction with the SBTD (Society of British Theatre Designers) to develop and give a ser-
ies of one-day ‘masterclasses’ in model-mak-ing to take place on certain days within the

popular Collaborators exhibition of current theatre design at the V&A in London. This exhibition was not unique, in that it presented work first seen in Nottingham and then at the Prague Quadrennial, but it was truly ground-
breaking and influential at the V&A!

The workshops were intended primarily for students of performance design, at a minimal cost, and participants signed up from colleges nationwide. I was given two calendar slots of four days each, around Easter, for which I de-
veloped four individual day-workshops which were then repeated.
